Professor Olivier Raisky is at the head of the Paediatric Cardiac surgery unit in Necker Sick Children in Paris for the last 4 years, a unit that was previously headed by Professor Pascal Vouhé, and has an academic position at Paris University.
The surgical unit performed around 1200 cases a year including 850 open heart surgery in 2 operating rooms and with 18 ICU beds.
Olivier Raisky had initially a training in adult and paediatric surgery, including almost two years in Harefield with Professor Magdi yacoub, and 6 months with Professor Planché at Marie Lannelongue Hospital. He had initially a special attention to ventricular assists devices and performed the first implantation of a Berlin Heart device in 2005 in Lyon.
In 2006, he joined the Necker team, and Pascal Vouhé became is mentor, especially in complex malpositions (IVR, REV, Nikaïdoh and Half Turned Truncal Switch).
His main interest now is on complex repair in neonates, valvar repair (mitral, aortic and tricuspid) and hypoplastic left heart but also has strongly participated to develop a mixed medical and surgical unit at Georges Pompidou Hospital dedicated to grown up congenital heart patients.
